Frequently Asked Questions

  • What instruments do you teach?

We're proud to offer a wide range of music lessons! Including voice, piano, guitar, drums, bass guitar, ukelele, violin, viola, cello, trumpet, clarinet, flute, saxophone, trombone, baritone, banjo, mandolin, and more! Our amazing staff of talented teachers are ready to help you grow in any style of music and will happily cater your lessons to your individual musical goals.

  • Are your teachers qualified?

All of our teachers are either university trained or have professional performance experience. With at least three music teachers for all five of the most popular instruments, we are confident that we have the right teacher to meet your music lesson needs.  Our dance and theatre teachers are also highly qualified, many of which have performed professionally.

  • What do I learn during my music lessons?

Our 30-minute one-on-one private lessons are designed to help the students gain the skills and techniques that will allow you or your child to achieve their specific musical goals. Your teacher will take the time to get to know you and those aspirations and tailor your lessons to reaching that goal. Our instructors are ready to pass on their knowledge and experiences in a fun and engaging way so that you can find growth and success in your own music. Lesson focuses might include music theory and technique, sight-reading practice, performance readiness, audition techniques, ear training, and so much more.

  • What times of day do you hold music lessons?

We hold lessons 6 days a week from open to close! This allows us to cater to as many students as possible. Homeschooled children, retirees, and our younger students often take advantage of our early afternoon lesson times, while our evening times often accommodate adults after work and school-age children. We even offer lessons on Saturdays for those students whose weekdays are just too busy!

    Our hours are as follows:

    Mon-Thur: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM

    Fri: 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM

    Sat: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

  • How much do your lessons cost?

Our lesson rate for music classes is $35.50 for each 30-minute lesson, or $142/month. Our new students are also subject to a one-time $30 registration fee. Please see our Music Page for full details.

For Dance Classes, rates vary by class, and please see our Dance Page for full details.

For Theatre Classes, rates vary by production, and please contact us through the Theatre Page for full details.

  • At what age can my child start taking lessons?

For Music, we typically begin taking students at the age of five for piano and guitar, and the age of six for our other offerings.

We also offer Music FunTime classes for your toddlers and preschoolers! These fun and engaging 30-minute group classes introduce basic music theory to your little one via games, crafts, percussion, instruments, and more.

As for dance, our Tumbler Classes start at age three.

And for Theatre, children as young as six can participate!

  • Can I buy an instrument from you?

In addition to holding lessons, we also have a fully-stocked music storefront. We have a variety of new and used instruments available for purchase, as well as any lesson books or accessories that you might need. Rental instruments are also available through our partnership with NEMC.

  • Do you offer performance opportunities?

Quality Music students have the opportunity to perform at our two annual recitals. We host our winter and summer recitals at our Chesapeake location. On top of getting the chance to show off of their hard work, our participating students also receive personalized certificates commemorating their achievements. Plus, our recitals are completely free for our students and their families as there is no cost to participate in or attend our recitals.

For Dance, we have several recitals during the year.

As for Theatre, there are three musicals per year, and these are ticketed events with two performances given over a weekend.
